The COVID-19 pandemic has given Julien Dube a new love he never expected – football.
The peewee-aged player admits he had never played football, but with so many other sports cancelling this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he thought he would give it a chance.
And Julien is glad he did.
He’s one of hundreds of kids, teens and adults who have joined the North Bay Bulldogs fall flag football program.
“I really missed sports. I usually play hockey and baseball. I had a baseball camp, but I’m not going to play hockey this year because I don’t like 3-on-3, which is what it is this year,” Julien said Saturday at the Steve Omischl Sports Field Complex
“Flag football has been a good substitute for all the sports I’ve missed.”
The sport has been so much fun that Julien plans to play tackle football for the Bulldogs next summer and will try out for his high school football team in the fall.
“I’m going to play football next year for sure. I’m so glad I came out. It’s so much fun.”
